Research:
Multiplexed Vehicle Electrical Systems: A large multi-national manufacturer of vehicle electrical and electronic components was in development on an innovative electrical product. The company hired NezTech to scout a variety of vehicle markets to determine market size, potential partners and market entry points. NezTech research available market data on industries from emergency vehicles to private aircraft. NezTech also visited trade shows and vehicle manufacturers to develop industry connections and learn market characteristics. In all 14 markets were analyzed to assist management with marketing and planning decisions.

University Developed Oxygen Sensing Technology: A new ceramic-based oxygen sensing technology was developed at a major university under an industry consortium. The lead industry partner contracted NezTech to work with the university researchers to understand the unique benefits of the technology, then go into industry and learn if the benefits justified investment in a company spin-out from the university.

Planning:
Large University-Based Commercialization Corporation: A recent phenomenon in technology-based economic development is corporate formation activities sponsored by universities. NezTech’s years of experience with technology company formation and university technology transfer made it a natural to help a large Ohio university develop the plans for a commercialization corporation. NezTech worked with venture capital organizations and interviewed commercialization and technology development organizations across the United States. The result was a business plan and financial model for a unique commercialization corporation which was used to communicate the opportunity to funding sources.

Small Family-Owned Industrial Abrasives Company: A $20 million per year industrial abrasives company initially engaged NezTech to assist with marketing planning and sales analysis. The company was bringing on new family management and it was determined that the company strategy needed to be communicated throughout the organization. NezTech worked with executive management to better understand the changing competitive environment in which they operated. NezTech facilitated numerous management meetings leading to the articulation of corporate values, vision, mission, objectives and strategic activities in a concise strategic plan. NezTech then assisted with institutionalization of the corporate values, vision and objectives.

Management:
WMD Detection Business Development: A successful military contractor with a stable business in chemical and biological decontamination and systems integration contracted NezTech to investigate the chemical and biological detection market. NezTech scouted technologies and military programs to learn the industry and identify business development opportunities. NezTech developed a business development function for the company that regularly scans proposal opportunities, identifies potential partners and pursues development prospects. NezTech was instrumental in the company’s successful bid for an NBC detection project for the Air Force including the identification of two technology partner companies in the project.

Synthetic Peptide Start-up: NezTech encountered a peptide synthesis start-up company as part of NezTech multi-year business development advisement engagement with a renown technology business incubator. The scientist/owner was world-class in peptide synthesis, but was new to business management and marketing. NezTech served in a product management capacity in developing the company’s marketing infrastructure (prospect databases, sales lead process and follow-up) and marketing literature. NezTech helped establish the firms early customer base and worked with the owner at tradeshows and in customer calls to learn and understand the business and marketing aspects of the peptide synthesis industry. NezTech also helped to transfer the acquired knowledge into plans and reports in order to communicate the firms results and projection to the incubators review boards.

Management Coaching/Advisement:
Strategic Planning Advisement for a Regional Technical College: The head of the strategic planning committee of a regional community college aware of NezTech’s capabilities engaged NezTech to advise in their strategic planning process. NezTech met with the head of planning to review planning results and devise exercises and tools to bring the management team into alignment. NezTech also assisted with the environmental scanning process by meeting with committee members to discuss the process of gathering and analyzing external information.

Nationally Recognized Central-Ohio Technology Business Incubator: NezTech was engaged for seven years as the resident business development advisory for client companies of a widely recognized technology business incubator. NezTech organized and managed the incubator’s business development function and met with client companies on a regular basis. NezTech advised incubator companies in all aspects of corporate formation and early stage business development including issues of planning, licensing, marketing infrastructure development, early customer acquisition, management, strategic partnering and government and private funding.
